The Inn
"There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man by which so much happiness is produced as by a good inn."
Samuel Johnson
Situated atop a sprawling vineyard, Genius Loci captures the essence of Umbria. It celebrates an unspoiled and timeless landscape with its historical architecture, panoramic pool, breathtaking views and friendly hospitality.
Located between Montefalco and Bevagna (both listed by “The Most Beautiful Small Towns” Association – www.borghitalia.it) and just off the Strada del Sagrantino, the inn boasts a refined beauty and tranquility aimed to delight the discerning traveler.
Genius Loci is the gratifying result of a detailed restoration of an 1880’s farmhouse in which antique stones and bricks, hand-hewn oak beams and terracotta floors have been brought back to their original splendor. The views capture the best of Umbria, with its pristine landscape of rolling hills, charming medieval hill towns, stretches of lush vineyards, olive groves, majestic oaks, and fields of sunflowers.
Find your favorite spot to unwind at Genius Loci: curl up with a book by the fireplace in the stone-walled Reading Room; share life’s laughter with your friends and family while sipping a cappuccino or a cocktail in the inviting bar area built around a 1450’s grape press; discover the local Sagrantino vintage in the winery connected to a restored 1880’s cistern with its new stunning tasting area; or simply bask in the sun by the panoramic pool.
Genius Loci follows a B&B plan. Wake up to the aroma of a cappuccino or espresso and to a full European buffet breakfast including an ample selection of fresh breads, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereals and pastries. End your day with a savory dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants where a host of local specialties can be enjoyed: we are happy to make recommendations and assist you with reservations.
Every day is special at Genius Loci. Our mission is to provide a perfect retreat for our guests as they vacation in Umbria. We invite you to experience the luxury, comfort and warmth of our country estate.
